Prolapse isn’t something people talk about—but it’s common and manageable. Increased load, repetitive strain, heavy lifting or simply ageing can cause weakness in tissues supporting your pelvic organs which in turn leads to prolapse.

Common Signs and Symptoms

  • A feeling of pressure or heaviness in the pelvic region
  • A dragging/ pulling sensation in the vaginal region.
  • A physical lump, bump or bulge that can be seen or felt (may not be there always)
  • Urinary concerns including: increased frequency, difficulties emptying your bladder or incontinence
  • Difficulty with bowel movements
  • Pain during intimacy and/ or menstruation

How Can We Help

  • Assessment of pelvic floor function and creating individualised pelvic floor training program
  • Symptom management – managing day to day activities to reduce pressure in pelvic region, treatments focusing on bowel/bladder-related symptoms
  • Education and advise on whether pessary or surgery is required or not
  • Teaching techniques for how to manage intrabdominal pressure whilst exercising and reducing the risk of flare ups
  • Design and deliver individualised exercise programs designed to support pelvic health and increase quality of life.
